But behind almost every financial decision sits something far less rational—fear, memory, identity and belief. Financial psychologist Brad Klontz has spent years studying the hidden scripts that shape how people behave with money. They rarely measure how much human energy is being consumed to produce them. Organisational psychologist Adam Grant has spent his career studying motivation, meaning and performance at work. They borrow, refinance, tax, restructure and, when they control their own currencies, create more money. That makes sovereign decline difficult to recognise—until debt begins consuming the very economic flexibility governments need to preserve stability. Ray Dalio has spent decades studying what happens next. 94% OF GLOBAL GDP — Global public debt rose to just under 94% of world GDP in 2025.
